  • How to taste and describe wine using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine®(SAT)

  • How environmental factors, grape-growing, winemaking and maturation options influence the style and quality of wines made from eight principal grape varieties:

  • Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio/Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah/Shiraz

  • The style and quality of wines:

made from 22 regionally important grape varieties

produced in over 70 geographical indications around the world

  • How grape varieties and winemaking processes influence key styles of:

Sparkling wines

Fortified wines

  • Key labelling terms used to indicate origin, style and quality

  • Principles and processes involved in the storage and service of wine

  • Principles of food and wine pairing

On successful completion you will be a more confident wine taster, able to describe and compare the styles of wines produced from internationally and regionally important grape varieties. You'll know how to interpret wine labels from the main wine producing regions of the world, and how to store, serve, taste and pair wines to get the best out of every glass.

Approx. 90 minute instructor led (but informal) six-wine tasting session aimed at WSET Level 2 standard (date specified at enrolment) only $65 extra (discounted for our students). This will be a mixed wine standard group session

WWJ - Wine With Jimmy Level 2 Exam:

Exam preparation course to cement your learning and help get that Distinction grade.

Entry Requirements

There is no pre-requisite wine  knowledge required for this qualification

 

However, you must be over 18 years of age at the time of booking

Course Delivery

The Level 2 Award in Wines has a minimum requirement of 28 hours of study time, including 16 hours of online delivery time with a WSET course provider

Assessment

Assessment is by a closed-book exam of 50 multiple-choice questions within an hour

 

The basic pass mark is 55%

Special Consideration

If you feel you were at a disadvantage during the exam due to, for example, illness, you can submit a special consideration request to us. We will pass this on to WSET for their assessment. The form (on request) must be sent to Vinum Vitae within 5 working days after your exam date. Please see our APP Policies document for further information.
