Entry Requirements

You must be over 18 years of age at the time of booking

​

An exam pass in WSET Level 2 Award in Wines / Wines and Spirits is required to enrol in this course, you will need your WSET Candidate number from your WSET Level 2 grade letter

Special Circumstances

​

However, if you feel you have sufficient wine knowledge without taking the WSET Level 2 Wines course, you can apply to take an online test (the cost is an extra $100, paid at course enrolment and is not refundable in any circumstance)

​

At an agreed date and time, you will answer 30 multiply choice questions in 30 minutes. The questions are similar to the Level 2 Wines exam questions. You will need to score at least 76% (38 out of 50 correct) on this test to be accepted for the Level 3 course (scores will not be given, only test pass or fail)

 

If you do not score at least 76%, the $299 deposit will be refunded (minus CC fees), and your enrolment cancelled

​

If the Level 3 course is cancelled due to insufficient numbers, your multiply choice test results will be rolled over to the next Level 3 course (the $100 fee is not refunded)

Course Delivery

This qualification has a minimum requirement of 84 hours of study time, including online study, private study, and the exam

​

Apart from the wines supplied during the Tasting Workshops (totalling 17-wines), no other wine samples will be supplied as part of the course price. However, extra paid tasting sessions will be available

 

You perform the course by logging into the WSET Online Classroom (login details will be sent by WSET).

​

The online course material including the quizzes can be watched / attempted as many times as you like until you have learnt it

​

Please note this is an intensive course requiring dedicated personal study which should not be under-estimated

Assessment

Unit 1 is assessed by a closed-book exam of 50 multiple-choice questions and a short-written answer paper consisting of 4 questions. Unit 1 exam time is 2 hours

 

Unit 2 is assessed by a blind tasting of two wines. Unit 2 exam time is 30 minutes

​

Unit 2 is examined first, then Unit 1.

In order to secure a pass for the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines, a candidate will be required to attain a minimum mark of 55% in both units

Special Consideration

If you feel you were at a disadvantage during the exam due to, for example, illness, you can submit a special consideration request to us. We will pass this on to WSET for their assessment. The form (on request) must be sent to Vinum Vitae within 5 working days after your exam date. Please see our APP Policies document for further information.
